Crayfish don’t like beer

Cowichan News Leader Pictorial, September 24, 2010

A few brand new humorous signs along the Cowichan River are in the works for next year.

Filling the place of Town of Lake Cowichan mayor Ross Forrest, councillor Jayne Ingram attended the Thursday, September 9, monthly meeting of the Cowichan Lake and River Stewardship Committee (CLRSC).

During the meeting she discussed with the committee some ideas mayor and council have been considering for next summer. One such idea is a picture of a crayfish, with the tag, “Crayfish don’t like living in beer cans.”

“People feel fun signage will be more effective,” Ingram said, adding that mayor and council plan on working alongside the CLRSC in the creation of these new signs.
