Cowichan Valley Regional District, July 7 2014
Effective immediately, the Cowichan Valley Regional District has implemented Stage 3 Water Restrictions across the district, consistent with the designation of Level 4 Drought rating for Vancouver Island announced by the Provincial Government on July 3.
In response to the level 4 drought conditions on Vancouver Island, the CVRD and member municipalities have implemented Stage 3 Water Use Restrictions for all CVRD and municipal water systems. Many improvement districts and private water systems are also implementing Stage 3 restrictions. For a complete list of water restrictions, visit https://cvrdnewnormalcowichan.ca/water-use-restrictions/
Under Stage 3 Water Use Restrictions, all sprinkling is prohibited. Hand watering of shrubs and gardens is permitted for a maximum of 2 hours per day, between 6-8 am or 8-10 pm. Microdrip irrigation systems may operate up to 4 hours per day. Washing of vehicles, boats, buildings, driveways, and sidewalks is prohibited and no filling of pools or hot tubs is allowed.
The forecast calls for continued hot and dry weather, so please make every effort to reduce your water consumption.
