Twinned Watersheds Project:
Indigenous Flows
To ground this project in traditional knowledge, both Cowichan Tribes and Halalt First Nation conducted interviews with indigenous knowledge holders about key features of the rivers when they were in a healthier state.
This work will inform more in-depth processes to identify the environmental, cultural and intrinsic values that the water in the river represents. The preliminary work accomplished in this phase of the Twinned Watersheds Project also helped to inform and validate the low flow study.
Pending approval by the First Nations involved, both Indigenous Flow reports will be available here in the near future.
