Cowichan Million Litre Challenge – March 16-24, 2018

March 25, 2018 by Jill Thompson

News Release, Cowichan Watershed Board, March 16-24, 2018

To mark UN World Water Day (March 22) here in the Cowichan valley, our goal is to find 100 people who will test their hoses for leaks and fix them this week, resulting in 1 million litres of water saved over the course of the year.

By simply replacing your hose washers and tightening your hose connections you can save up to 240 litres a day!

Here’s the math of a leaky hose:

10 litres per hour
24 hours per day
120 days per watering season
28,800 litres saved by fixing one leaky hose
100 participants
2 hoses per household on average
5,760,000 potential litres saved by fixing 200 leaky hoses

WE CAN DO THIS!

BONUS! Drillwell Enterprises will donate $2 for each of the first 100 people who fix their hoses, with the monies going to an African water non-profit.
