Julia Kidder (she/her) is a communications strategist, interdisciplinary artist and Ph.D. researcher at UBC’s School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP). Her doctoral work explores creative and legal pathways for decolonizing coastal climate adaptation, water governance and decision-making across British Columbia’s rapidly changing coastal ecosystems. Julia works best in collaborative settings and enjoys using arts-based, participatory approaches to conceptualize solutions to major social ecological challenges. She is a dual Canadian-Norwegian citizen and now lives by Sproat Lake, on the home of the Tseshaht (c̓išaaʔatḥ) and Hupacasath (Hupač̓asath) First Nations on the traditional unceded territories of the Nuu-chah-nulth peoples – in what is now known as the Alberni Valley on Vancouver Island.
